Welcome to Greenhill Wines, proudly one of the highest (if not highest) Cellar Door in the Adelaide Hills.

All Greenhill Wines are hand picked during vintage & produced on our cool climate estate winery, with a peak altitude of 596m above sea level, characteristic of cooler nights, mild intermittent frost & expected slow ripening conditions. Our vineyards have been planted on previously fertile fallow market garden & cattle pasture loam acidic soils, studded with quartzite rock, sandstone & red / yellow clays, along a spectrum of semi-arid to fertile terrain with minimal to no irrigation. Our vineyards are a diverse network of blocks linking the undulating slopes into our ridge lines nestled atop the estate valley floor, with combined gentle & steep north & south facing aspects, planted from est 1991, 1993, and 2024 across a large spectrum of grape varieties, clones, each sectioned into distinct micro climates.

We work our vineyard as a family business, and pick as winemakers first; and so our estate vineyards have a ‘boutique’ winemaking factor as we micro manage small sections across varietals to be picked optimally, processed distinctly to their budding potential, for example in our Pinot Noir from Méthode Traditionnelle Sparkling, white varieties tank fermented, to barrel fermented reds.

We’ve come to know our vineyards cool climate flavours as distinct in the combined range of fragrance, savouriness, bright acidity, herbaceous, spiced, woodland characteristics. As a result, our wines are specialised in a subset of flavours less typical of the greater Australian wine industry, excelling in sparkling categories as per Piccadilly Valley’s distinction as an independent sub-region from the Adelaide Hills.

Greenhill Wines genealogy currently utilises well known French varietals, as well as some odd-fellows from Germany & Georgia, with a bountiful mix of prospects that are lesser known in this climate zone typically, informed & pushing the limits of our unique cool-climate style.

Currently our estate vineyards include; Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunière, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Saperavi, Merlot & Gruner Veltliner.

We offer Tutored Estate Wine Tastings in our Cellar Door. Due to our small size, we highly recommend bookings, in the warmer season especially however walk-ins are welcome, capacity dependant.
